How to tie a double bow

How to tie a double bow

Add a little extra to the perfect ballet hairstyle, when wrapping a gift or give their favourite soft toy a new look with one of these gorgeous double bows. You could even hot glue your bow onto a hair clip for the easiest ballet bun accessory.

You'll need...

To tie one of these double bows to match our new season Tutus and leotards you’ll need;

      • a length of ribbon about 40cm (this is just for a bow, if you are tying around a ballet bun or present you’ll need some extra length),
      • a pair of scissors,
      • a lighter/match to seal the ends of your ribbon.

How to tie a double bow...

          Step 1:

Place ribbon over your index finger with about 15cm for the bow tail hanging in front of your palm.

Step 1: Place ribbon over your index finger

          Step 2:

Take the ribbon from the back of your hand and wrap under your middle finger.
Step 2: Take the ribbon and wrap under your middle finger

          Step 3:

Then wrap the ribbon over your index finger again so you have two layers of ribbon.

Step 3: Ribbon over your index finger

          Step 4:

Insert end of ribbon between the ribbon around your fingers and the ‘v’ between your fingers.

          Step 5:

As you pull through your ribbon wraps under the middle finger again.

          Step 6:

Pull tail of ribbon across in front of your hand.
Step 6: Pull tail across in front of your hand

          Step 7:

Insert tail under top layer of ribbon from the side closest to your palm.

Step 7: Insert tail under top layer of ribbon

          Step 8:

Pull tight. Adjust as you pull to ensure the knot remains in the centre of your bow.

          Step 8: Pull tight

          Step 9:

Remove the double bow from your fingers.

Step 9: Remove from fingers and seperate the layers of ribbon.

          Step 10:

Adjust bow ears to suit and trim ribbon ends to the desired length. We used a lighter to seal the ends of the ribbon so it doesn't fray.

Step 10: Adjust bow to suit and trim ribbon ends

And Voila! you should have a beautiful double bow.
